Language Arts:

This week, I am introducing the vocabulary program to the students.  In addition, we read the story "Lemon Brown" in the literature book.  We will have a test on "Lemon Brown" on Thursday, August 26 for periods 1 and 2.  For period 4, the test will be on Wednesday, August 25.  On Friday, August 27, we will be doing an in-class writing assignment using our vocabulary words.

AR:

I have attached the reflection sheets and reading log for the AR program.  We will be incorporating the AR program into language arts this year.  There is a very detailed explanation of the program on page 17, 18, and 19 of your student agenda/planner.  In addition, I included the expectation rubric for the reflection sheets for your information.  Please take some time and review the expectations and feel free to contact me with any questions.

American History:

In history, we are covering the early European explorers.  I have attached the powerpoint presentations below.  On Friday, September 3, a 3 paragraph paper is due.  The paper should state whether or not you feel Christopher Columbus is guilty of causing the death and enslavement of the Taino people.  You should rely on the information you learned during our "mock" trial of Christopher Columbus and the issues discussed in class.
